Hydrangeas' Fall colors

Here are some views of my various hydrangeas' Fall hues.  I just love their flowers and their foliage in every color they grace me with from Spring til Fall and even Winter when their brown, crispy flowers hang on through fierce winds, sleet and snow.  They are the most appreciated symbol of hope for yet another Spring in my garden.

  1. Lovely hydrangeas! I'm definitely planning to add more to our garden this fall...we currently only have a few Blushing Brides, which I love, and a few variegated lacecap. Your photos are so inspiring! Look forward to reading more soon...

  2. Thank you Julie! I just checked out your blog and love it. I especially loved your potager step by step. I'd love to try one of those. I'm taking a Landscape Design History class at the New York Botanical Garden right now, and we just studied French gardens from the 16th-18th centuries. So inspiring.

  4. Ann, thanks so much for following my blog! I just checked yours out, and it's so beautiful. I am a follower of Garden Spot now, and look forward to reading all your posts. Your photos are gorgeous. Good luck with your new five acres! And I'd love to talk to you about hydrangeas...my favorite flower and shrub. Check our Wilkinson Farms at hydrangea.com. They have the most amazing variety and wonderful quality. I've ordered direct from them for my mom and mother in law and they plants are excellent.

  5. Cindy, I've made a new friend! Welcome to The Garden Spot. To answer your question on what lens I use to photograph the butterflies. This summer I purchased a Cannon Rebel SLR and the 75-300mm lens. I use that telephoto lens so that I can stand back and shoot a way. Some butterflies just do not hold still for their close-ups. Then I use iPhoto on the my Apple lap top to crop and get good close-ups and to adjust the exposure. I also use Picasa sometimes. Thank you for your kind comments. I love hydrangeas and will check out Wilkinson Farms. Which zone are you in? I am in zone 5--dry, dry, dry a lot of the time. We will chat again. best, ann
