Very early spring here in Connecticut!
Last week in Fairfield, CT...spring is here a bit early this year! There are daffodils popping up everywhere and fat magnolia blooms on their branches...so strange for March 9th when we're usually blanketed with snow and freezing our buns off...it was low 70s here yesterday. Hopefully March won't turn around and whallop us with some sub freezing temps. Even though it was the winter that never was here, I am so ready for spring and color.

Our first winter snow!! This is right by my favorite viburnum, my 'Summer Snowflake' that is loaded with white lacecap blooms all summer and fall. I love it in this setting, too. My kids are so snow starved this year that one of them just asked me how we will get outside today because it "must be 20 degrees"! A little different than last year!

Good morning from Connecticut and happy 2012! I never get tired of watching the sun come up over the sound. It's a beautiful day...crisp and chilly with some wind, but beautiful sunshine everywhere.

Sunrise this morning about 7am over the Long Island Sound
The sun just starting to come up this morning over the Long Island Sound. Hope all my gardening friends have a week full of peace and wonder as we look forward to another year.

Knockout roses by the Long Island Sound - the fall gift that keeps on giving
The pretty salmon pink Knockout roses in my garden have held on and keep coming with our unusually warm Connecticut fall weather. They are such a pleasure to see in the almost sleeping garden.
